World Cup Plans

Its the Friday before the World Cup starts and I bet everyone back home is deciding where to watch the England Game. It was always either The Pub, home alone, or home with a load of friends. My first choice for the early games would be at a mates house with a load of friends, then for the later games there is no other choice but the pub.
However, spare a thought for me whose choice was to fly to the other side of the world, to a country that doesn't give a dam. The only sign of the world cup is a pair of helium football balloons tied to a railing in Christchurch Cathedral Square. I looked at the times the football we be on TV here... 1:30am, 3:30am, and 6:30 am. So given that the Kiwis all go to bed at 10:00pm, dont open the pubs till midday, and rarely have Sky TV at home, then its certain I won't be watching ANY live games. I wondered where all the english blokes were in NZ, now I know why....no other idiot was silly enough to be in this country during the world cup, they have all winged it so that they are in South America etc..

Anyway, enough complaining, I'll be thinking of you all in the pub or at home having a wicked time, but all is not lost as the All Blacks are playing Ireland this saturday night at 7:35pm so I'll be there shouting for our neigbours.

INGERRRLANDDDD!!
Chris

P.S One thing I wont be missing are those overweight football girls stood right in front of the big screen smoking a fag and spilling their pints down last years England shirt screaming and screeching at the tops of their chavvy little voices. If you see one this weekend get a photo with your camera phone and send it to me for posting on the blog.

P.S.S The Aussies really do think they are going to win!

Chris, you think NZ is bad for WC, we were in Oz for Euro 2004, and it was a nightmare. They didn't give a toss, and it was rare a TV in the outback, let alone one that showed the footy in the middle of the night.
All we managed to watch was a repeat of the France/England game, with someone saying what the final score was just before France scored 2 goals, and half the repeated Portugal game at 11 in the morning in a rather dodgy Abo pub - and yes they were all pissed at 11am!
That was the sum of our Euro 2004 - so I hope you have better luck!
I suppose it could of been worse and you were still in Oz, all you'd of got was 400 repeats of the Oz games!
Have fun!
