Waitomo To Wellington

An 8 hour journey on a bus should have been a drag right? Well not yesterday! From Waitomo we took a little mini bus 1st which was driven by Bill (about 80 years old) and his co-driver Brian (about 78). They were sooo sweet, and on the way to get our connecting bus they took us to a rabbit shearing shed. Yeah I know! I thought they where kidding but I couldn't believe my eyes when we arrived, here is the type of rabbit they had there (it's called Angora Rabbit, it's from Germany):

They had one sat on a pillar and it was the most loveable thing I've seen, it just made me burst out laughing! But then, even more hilarious was the one that was being sheared!!!! Oh my word! The poor little thing was half shaved stretched out on was looked like and S&M contraption looking really embarrased. Here's a pic:

After that the 4 of us continued our journey, Bill was telling us lots of facts about the area and some really bad jokes when he suddenly pics us a michrophone and starts to talk through it even though we're right behind him. Both of us cracked up but he took it very seriously.
30 minutes later we waved a sad good-bye to the dynamic duo and got on a large comfi coach for th next few hours. I was going to read but neither Chris or myself could take our eyes off the stunning scenery. Chilli palms pressed hard against the windows as we pressed our faces as close to the glass as we could to take-inn the most breath-taking sights. The whole way we nuddged each other to draw attention to one side of the coach or the other as snow-capped volcanoes popped out of nowhere, and field that looked just like 'The Shire' in Lord Of The Rings lay ahead for miles.
We arrived in a very atmospheric buzzy Wellington (which we'll be returning to on our way back), and warmed our very frosty breaths with a rich glass of Merlot, a Winter Ale and a Venison Pie.
